KELLY URQUHART

Hi all and thanks for stopping by :)

Update 4/24/12:

Spring has arrived in Ohio, and so has a new hobby for me: knitting.  Painting and knitting have a lot common in my opinion, except a painting can't make you cozy and warm ;)  I have opened up a shop and thought I would share: Gordon Wiggles

Also, the Gordon Wiggles team will be at the Bark in the Park Fundraiser event in Akron, OH on May 12th, hope to see you there!

Update 11/19/11:

The Studio Visit Volume 16 publication is now available.  Take a look at some of the impressive work available here.

Update 10/23/11:

It has been a busy last few months preparing for Fall exhibitions, when it rains it pours!  Within the next couple months, our work will be available for viewing in various spots in the U.S.: the Studio Visit publication, the solo SRO Texas Tech University Exhibition, Data In, Data Out at Seton Hall University in NJ, and at the CSU's Art Gallery for an exhibition honoring the history of the Art Department before it moves to a different location in Cleveland.

Stay tuned for more details on our new body of work: The NYSE Project, very close to completion.  The first solo exhibition for this new body of work will be on view at the Pearl Conard Art Gallery at The Ohio State University this Spring 2012.

Update 05/01/11:

The SRO Photo Gallery at Texas Tech University's School of Art in Lubbock, TX recently announced the solo artist exhibitions selected for the 2011-2012 season.  Jaime and I were one of eight selected from the 140 submitted entries.  This is great news!  A big thanks goes to the Photography Faculty at TTU's School of Art and the Director of LandMark Arts for this opportunity.

In other recent news, our work was selected by juror, Ian Berry, Associate Director for Curatorial Affairs and Curator at The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College for publication in Studio Visit, a series of juried artist books.  Studio Visit received over 1,200 entries for the Fall 2011 volumes, and publication will be received by more than two-thousand galleries, museum curators, and art professionals throughout the country.

Congrats to all the selected artists!

Update 03/19/11:

Jaime and I were invited by talented photographer and OSU Visiting Professor of Art, Bradley Olsen, to give a Visiting Artist Lecture at The Ohio State University's Lima Campus on Monday, May 23rd at 12:30pm, Location: Reed Hall 174.  We are really excited about this opportunity and look forward to meeting OSU's art professors, staff and students.  We plan to discuss the Hung, Drawn, and Quartered series, our collaborative process, and the ideas behind the work.

Also, we will be participating in SPACES Monster Drawing Rally on Saturday, April 9th, from 7-11pm (thanks for the invite Marilyn!).  The Monster Drawing Rally is a live drawing event and fundraiser for SPACES featuring over 100 artists.  All work will be available for purchase that night for $65.00, what a steal!!  Come out and support one of the best non-profit galleries in Cleveland!

Update 03/07/11:

It's been awhile since the last update, but here is 1 of 21 Fibonacci brick stacks Jaime and I have been working on.

We've been trading stocks for about 18 months for this project, recording 15 min. price movements, and putting them into a time based grid.  If the price went up it got a brick, if the price went down, no brick.  Some bricks were replaced for the painted bricks based on random dice rolls.  Please feel free to read our artist statement for this new series of infographcs: The New York Stock Exchange Project
